Viol Consort Day 10th January 2018

We got the New Year off to a great start with a well-attended day. This is what people said: "Thanks so much for organising another very successful Viol Day. I really enjoyed the playing that I did and as usual had a very good lesson with Ali." "Many thanks for organising the sessions."  "we both enjoyed it - the choice of music, the catering, and of course, the company. We know how much work it is to do it and how much planning it takes, and are therefore doubly grateful." " I thought it all very successful and enjoyable."

Viol Consort Day 24 May 2017

Essex Voices Concert 6 May 2017

Ten singers form the group Essex Voices. Their concert, entitled "Songs of Angels", was a very accomplished performance of a widely ranging repertoire in the beautiful surroundings of Great Waltham Church. The first half explored some of the biblical encounters between angels and men, the Annunciantion, Mary's response in the Magnifcat, and angels appearing to the shepherds at the Nativity in settings by diverse composers such as Guerrero, Byrd, Victoria, Schutz, Gabrieli and Handl. The second half took song as its starting point with spirits, birds, swans and nightingales all having their turn to warble in settings by Finzi, Bennett, Gibbons, Stanford, Harris and Ayres. The concert raised over £750 to be split equally between the Church and Angel Early Music, so many thanks to all those who supported this event.

Viol Consort Day 1 March 2017
